Glory Hole's "Take A Vet Fishing" Event with the Purple Heart Anglers is shaping up nicely. It has been wonderful to see the outpouring of support and appreciaton our customers have shown for those who have served. The most support (in the form of donations and offers to provide a boat) has come from other veterans. So many of our customers have also served, and are happy to have a chance to connect with others who have also given so much. It is very humbling.
We currently have 30 vets signed up, and are still taking anyone who is interested. If you know a vet who wants to go fishing - and it is not necessary to be disabled - contact me or Randy, or even just come on down to the ramp by 7 am - we will find a boat ride for them! If you want to offer a ride to a vet and haven't signed up, come on down to the ramp - we may need you!
So here is what will be going on:
Boaters and anglers will meet at 7 am at the Glory Hole Boat Ramp. Snacks, water and fishing licenses will be provided. Everyone will fish and have fun on the water until 12:30, and then everyone will come in and there will be a barbeque and "meet and greet" at 1 pm at the Black Bart Day Use area. We will have a fun raffle for the vets, to win the prizes that have been donated.
Glory Hole customers who want to honor our vets are invited to the barbeque. It will be a chance to shake the vets' hands and say thank you, and just visit and talk fishing. So come on down and have a hot dog! Feel free to bring a dish to share if you would like to. And if you want to bring something to donate to the raffle for the vets, that is great, too.
