The rainbow and brown trout will be delivered to Kokanee Power's trout-raising pens at New Melones Lake Marina tomorrow (Tuesday, November 27) at around 9 a.m. Help is needed, so if you are in the area, come on down to the boat ramp and help with the bucket brigade!

As we talked about last week, these are the last brown trout to be planted in the state of California. New Melones Lake had been getting healthy plantings of brown trout every year. But since they cannot sterilize the brown trout (a new rule because of a recent lawsuit against DFG), the plantings will be discontinued.

Because of the fact that brown trout will not be planted into Melones in the future, we want to encourage catch and release of browns. We will no longer recognize brown trout in our Big Fish of the Week Contest.

Continue to bring in your rainbow trout, and your catfish. Remember- the angler with the biggest fish each week wins a free deli lunch.

We would still love to see and share photos of your fish! Almost everyone has a cell phone that takes pictures these days. Save our contact information into your phone, so you can take a photo and send it to us while you are on the water, or when you get home.

Be sure to include info on your catch- what day, where on the lake, how deep, what bait, etc. And most importantly- your name.
