Lake Conditions
Surface temps averaging around @ 52.5 degrees... Clarity improved to 10 to 11 ft..... 4489.81 Ft. Elevation... 1,031,285 acre feet storage.

Cool rain soaked the basin for the last 2 days. The north fork of the Feather is pouring in water. The diversion Dam is rerouting some of that addition flow around Chester. Bailey Creek is flowing strong, along with several season creeks and streams around both basins. Clearing for Friday and through the weekend in the forecast. The Fishing conditions are perfect.

Many areas around the lake are fishing good. So good, it's hard to really determine which spot is better.

Canyon Dam, north along the east shore to Lake Cove, Trolling silver Speedy Shiners, or fast action Needlefish in Pearl are picking up Browns, Rainbows and an occasional King. Lake Cove area... early morning the fish are well off shore feeding on insects. Early evening the Salmon are moving closer to shore and hitting white jigs on the drift near the Bennington Estate. Closer to dark, the bigger the Salmon.

Dave, Owner of" Lake Haven Resort" said "After boating 7 kings in the 3 lb.. range, a bigger fish broke us off!" estimated over 5 lb.. East shore, Lake Cove and the Dorado areas are still happening. Rec. 1 to Bunell point kicked out a couple Browns pushing 4 lbs., off an 04 Seps Silver Prism Dodger/Pearl Needlefish combos rigged 20 ft. down. An oldie but a goodie.

My other buddy's Scott and Rich, wacked them good from the Almanor West peninsula into the airport flats areas. Again Rainbows and Browns a few over 3 lbs.. There are hitting hard, producing solid takedowns, popping releases, jumping, taking line, all that good stuff. My last 2 days trolling Almanor West produced limits by 11:30 am. Averaging 10 in the box, a few LDR's and a couple "One Pump Wonders"... mostly Rainbows, Browns and couple Salmon. (LDR, Long Distance Release) Watch your lines, there are some small salmon scattered all over the lake and they are not heavy enough to pop the release, you don't want to be dragging one of them around. ALMANOR KING, Channel 69, gimmie a shout if yer coming out.

Safety first... Lake levels continue to rise, watch for floating hazards. Always check the weather before trucking up here.

Canyon Dam ramp is open with dock.
USFS ramp open,with dock.
Almanor West, private, with dock.
REC. 1 and 2, open with docks.
