Here in the Upper Kern, the DFWL stocked trout throughout the 20-mile stretch this week. It’s been over two months since the last stocking. The next DFWL trout stocking is scheduled in two weeks. Easy access points are good areas to target the planters. Trout have come on salmon eggs, trout jigs and panther martins. The Upper Kern was stocked this week in Section 4; Riverside Park in Kernville to Powerhouse #3; Section 5, Fairview Dam to Lazy River Lodge; and Section 6, Fairview Dam to Johnsondale Bridge. In the Lower Kern, bass fishing in the canyon and at Democrat has been great. Bass have been going for Zman and crush city ned rigs, small crankbaits and Roboworms on drop shot. Catfish are being caught with nightcrawlers, chicken liver and cutbait. At the time of reporting, the Upper Kern River at Kernville was flowing at 209 CFS and the Lower Kern River was flowing at 825 CFS.
