The overall fishing in the Upper Kern has been slow. There were a few reports this week of natives and holdovers coming from the 20-mile stretch of the Upper Kern. Anglers can find them at the easy access points with salmon eggs, trout jigs and spinners. Wild trout continue to make a showing for fly anglers in the Upper Section with nymphs. No trout plants scheduled but can change anytime. The Lower Kern is the best bet while the bass bite remains steady on crankbaits, jigs, and spinners. Catfish can be found on dip baits, nightcrawlers and cut baits. At the time of reporting, the Upper Kern River was flowing at 152 CFS and the Lower Kern River was flowing at 171 CFS.
