According to the weather guessers temperatures will climb to the mid 80s with clear skies and mild breezes beginning Friday and continuing into next week. Water temperatures remained constant at 57 degrees on the surface and 50 degrees at the 20 foot mark, this will change as temperatures rise. The water visibility increased substantially and is presently clear to 22 feet in the Marina. The water level may have dropped another foot since last report; the level is approximately 12 to 14 feet below spill and holding.
BANK FISHING ---- Shore anglers are still holding their own as planters tend to hang out in the Recreation Area well after the plant. The hot spots are well established and haven't changed again this report, Tom Sawyer Island (particularly under the foot bridge), the Launch Ramp, Rainbow Point and the bank behind the EBMUD boathouse. Sliding sinker set ups are widely used, however silver/blue Kastmasters and black woolly buggers are also very successful right after a plant. White power eggs, maggots and power worms are the best sellers at the Marina, with night crawlers and yellow power bait also popular.
TROLLERS----Trollers doing about the same as last report. Boaters having good luck up river starting at the Rock Wall and heading up as far as Indian Head Rock. Limits aren't easy or fast but the bite has improved over the lull experienced two week ago.
Reports indicate the bite has improved significantly for those able to work around the wet weather we have experienced here as of late. Still no reports of any Kokanee caught lately, this weather pattern change may improve the bite. Equipment and bait the same, flashers tipped with a partial night crawler or Uncle Larry's copper popper, pinkie or tiger behind a smaller Sep's silver/green dodger. Most are heading upstream but I did see a few working the Narrows and Mel' Cove. The Trout are still shallow; don't go too deep most hookups are at 5 to 15 feet. Some Trollers have been tying off and still fishing in the coves along the eastern shore and upstream until the trolling improves.
BASS- There were a few boats working the coves and rocky point all along the eastern shoreline. Try crawdad jigs and plastic worms.
RECENT SUCCESS STORIES---Not a single photo to share this report-make sure you stop by the Marina to get your monster catch weighed, get your picture taken, lie about where and with what you caught that puppy and we will share all that with the millions that view our website daily!!!
To date 45,000 lbs of good size Trout have been planted by Lake Pardee Inc. and the California Department of Fish and Game with more plants scheduled in the near future.
