Wonderful rain has been with us for most of the week. Why do I say wonderful? Because our lake has come up nearly a foot and we're very pleased about that. A fresh load of minnows today virtually guarantees fishing success through the coming weekend. The bass bite continues to be good, the crappie are still pretty much a no show, and catfish are on the bite. Here are the details?Ķ

Our bass anglers have been out braving the rain this week to find that the bass are quite willing despite the changing conditions. We're seeing some activity in shallow water along docks and walls, but the majority of the fish are coming from the 20 to 25 foot depth. Live jumbo minnows have been the hot ticket for bass up to nearly 10 pounds this week. Look for bass to be feeding well with the nice weather and improved water conditions on the lake this weekend.

Crappie?Ķ Still not much to report here. We're looking for a few interested anglers to give the crappie fishing a go this weekend and report in with results. We're all waiting to find out ??? did the rain bring the bite around? I'll let you know when we find out!

Catfish are feeding well. The rain washes all kinds of good stuff into the lake to get these fish moving. Live jumbo minnows, nightcrawlers, or mackerel are tops this time of year. Look for areas where muddy water turns clear around the creeks and streams to the most activity.

Short report this week.. Come and enjoy the lake this weekend. Bring your wet weather gear and pick up some disposable hand warmers while you're here getting minnows.

Rainy days have been the order for the past week or so and we're darn glad to have it. The rain was accompanied by a cool-down in daytime temperatures as well. There haven't been all that many anglers on the water, but those that have braved the winter elements have found the bass are still willing despite the changing conditions. Plus, there's a hint of a crappie bite starting. The lake remains at about 47 degrees. On with the...... Read More

Solid bass fishing continues on Clear Lake! You know, there's a lot of talk about the lack of rain, the shortcomings of the crappie bite, and the low water level. But for all that it must be said that the bass bite is simply off the hook for this time of year on live minnows. The catfish action has been decent too. With the lake temperature in the upper forties and clear sunny days anglers are getting a rare opportunity...... Read More
