I took Conner and my Dad out on the river this afternoon for few hours and they both landed a nice Steelhead. Dad caught and released the first wild Steelhead of 2010. He was side-drifting with a float and a small worm tipped glow-bug, when the 24-inch, 5-pound Buck took the bait. The Steely battled near the bottom the whole time, making short runs until he tired out, we then netted him for a quick picture. The river temperature is in the low 40's and the Steelhead are hugging the bottom and hanging within 10 to 15 feet of the bank. Conner landed the second Steelhead of the year while back-trolling a small hotshot worm combo, it too was a wild Buck, not quite as fat as Dad's (3.5 pounds) but well over the 20-inch mark. After that we rowed down the river pretty quickly since the sun was dropping behind the mountains. Once the sun goes down the temperature drops very fast this time of year.  It was 32 degrees by the time I got the boat out of the water. Tonights low is suppose to be 25.
